| 説明 | College of DuPage and Benedictine University recently hosted the 20th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast. Alsharifi and fellow MLK scholarship winner Zakaria Ibnatik (Aurora) were recognized for their winning essays, which detailed how King’s ideals have made a direct impact on their lives. Both College of DuPage students will receive $1,000 for their efforts. The event, which honors the legacy of the civil rights leader and celebrates the diversity of community colleges, featured speaker Eboo Patel, who served on President Obama's inaugural Advisory Council of the White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships and holds a doctorate in the sociology of religion from Oxford University, where he studied on a Rhodes scholarship. He serves on the religious Advisory Committee of the Council on Foreign relations, on the board of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, on the National Committee of the Aga Khan Foundation USA and on the Department of Homeland Security's Faith-based Advisory Council. |
