| 説明 | Another South American animal, the tapir, characterized with the proboscis on his upper lip. (like a mini trunk). This is the South American tapir (Tapirus terrestris). Also called the Brazilian tapir (from the Tupi tapi'ira), lowland tapir or (in Portuguese) anta, is one of five species in the tapir family. Of course, the tapir is not limited to South America alone and is also found in SE Asia, the most famous among them being the Malayan Tapir. The other tapir species are the Mountain tapir, the Malayan tapir, the Baird's tapir, and the Kabomani tapir. It is the second-largest land mammal in South America, after the Baird's tapir.
