説明 | (1961)(2015)This view is looking north from the bridge on Kenton Lane just west of Belmont Circle. In the top photo we can see Belmont station which was opened by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) on 12th September 1932 on the small branch line between Harrow & Wealdstone and Stanmore (renamed Stanmore Village in September 1950). The branch line was originally opened by the London and North Western Railway (LNWR) on 18th December 1890 without a station at Belmont. In The Reshaping of British Railways report of 1963 by Dr Richard Beeching it was proposed to withdraw services on what remained of this branch. Services were withdrawn from Belmont on 5th October 1964, twelve years after the service to Stanmore was axed. The area is now occupied by a car park. » Then and Now: Localities» Then and Now: Film and Television Top photo ©Copyright Ben Brooksbank and licensed for reuse under this Creative Commons Licence |
