Currently houses the Museum of Viceregal Acolman, by the National Institute of Anthropology and History and welcomes tourists throughout the year for its proximity to the archaeological site of Teotihuacan.Its construction started between 1524 and 1529 by Fray Andrés de Olmos and was in charge of the Franciscan order. It was given to the Augustinians in 1536, who concluded it to its present dimensions around 1560. Fue cedido a los agustinos en 1536, quienes lo concluyeron a sus actuales dimensiones hacia 1560. Una doble cartela en la portada así lo consigna.Secularizado en el siglo XVII y abandonado definitivamente en 1772 luego de una inundación que lo annegó dos metros, fue declarado monumento histórico en 1933 e intervenido para hacerlo accesible en 1945, al quitarle todo el lodo que le cubría y creando la rampa que actualmente se observa. |
