説明 | Australia. BMC's small car was the Mini. The original Mini featured an 848cc transversely mounted engine, front wheel drive, ten inch wheels and independent suspensionJohn Cooper, saw the potential in a motorsports version; The Mini Cooper; introduced in 1961 featured a racing-tuned 997cc engine, twin SU carburettors, closer-ratio gearbox and front disc brakes. They got the Super Deluxe overriders and chrome trim around the windows.The further improved 1963 Cooper S got the larger 1071cc tuned engine, (then 1275cc in 1964) race suspension and better brakes. This car is an ex works rally car, built by the BMC Competitions Dept, first raced in the 1967 European Rally Championship by Rauno Aaltonen and later in the year brought to Australia to compete there by Paddy Hopkirk in the 1967 Southern Cross Rally. Tony Fall, Evan Green and Colin Bond also competed in the car |
