| 説明 | Champs de Mars | Rue de la BiscuiterieIn the city centre, close to the railway station, the Lefèvre-Utile factory stood with its features towers since 1886.The bombings that ravaged Nantes in 1943 also affected the towers but they weren't destroyed. These will be decapitated during major work in 1972. Only one located to the west is razed to the ground during the 1980s to make way for a hotel.The rest of the plant then continued to operate until production was transferred in 1986 to the new site of La Haie-Fouassière; Nantes factory was then abandoned.The city bought the building in 1995. It was declared protected site and escaped from demolition. It welcomed new cultural events from the CRDC (Centre de Recherche pour le Développement Culturel – Research center for cultural development).The Lieu Unique is now the national centre for contemporary arts and music venue in Nantes, opened on January 1, 2000 and founded by Jean Blaise. |
