説明 | The Hawker Hartebeest was a South African built light bomber based on the Audax army-cooperation aeroplane, itself a variant of the well known Hart bomber.65 were built, some of which saw action in WW2 against Italian forces during the East African campaign, while flying with 11sqn SAAF and based in Nairobi. Although one British built Audax survives and is on long-term restoration to fly in the UK, this is the sole surviving Hartebeest.It is on permanent display at the South African National Museum of Military History, Saxonwold, Johannesburg.South Africa.16-9-2014 |
