説明 | The Deep Space Climate Observatory, or DSCOVR Media Day was held on November 5, 2014 at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Maryland in front of the cleanroom tent that housed the DSCOVR Satellite.. Reporters had the opportunity to photograph the DSCOVR satellite before it shipped to NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Florida in preparation for launch in 2015.. Speakers at the event included: Albert Vernacchio, DSCOVR Project Manager, NASA Goddard; E. J. Summerlin, DSCOVR Deputy Project Scientist, NASA Goddard, and Doug Whiteley, DSCOVR, NOAA’s Office of Systems Development, Silver Spring, Maryland. . DSCOVR is a partnership between NOAA, NASA and the U.S. Air Force. DSCOVR will maintain the nation's real-time solar wind monitoring capabilities which are critical to the accuracy and lead time of NOAA's space weather alerts and forecasts. The satellite will also host NASA-funded secondary sensors for Earth and space science observations.
