| 説明 | Barrage d'Orgueil taken from the écluse.Above Fumel the next 42 km of navigation looks to be in working order with the next four locks Orgueil, Touzac, la Croze and Grimard all restored and re-gated using the original lock chambers. At Puy l’Eveque a new lock has been built adjacent to the hydroelectric plant, the original Campastie lock has been re-gated, the Meymes lock heightened to accommodate the raised weir and the Florias and Castelfranc locks re-gated. This photograph is part of a series showing the current state (June 2014) of the navigation works between the current head of navigation on the lower Lot at St-Vite barrage, and the start of the Upper Lot above the Luzech barrage, a 53 km barrier to linking these two sections. In the last 30 years we have seen the river Lot change from a completely abandoned and derelict navigation into probably the most spectacular restoration project currently in progress. To date three sections of the river have been restored; the lower Lot for 75 km from it’s junction with the river Garonne to the tail of St-Vite lock; the Upper Lot another 74 km interval from Luzech at km 128 to the village of Larnagol at approximately km 202 from the Garonne; and the higher Lot, a further 16 km at the very upstream limit of the old navigation 250 – 266 km from the Garonne. |
