| 説明 | Darebin Climate Action wants climate action debated in Northcote for the Victorian election in 2014. They have organised a forum for November 12, but neither sitting Labor MP Fiona Richardson or Liberal candidate Anthony D'Angelo will commit to attending. Both the Save the Planet candidate Bryony Edwards and the Greens Trent McCarthy have said they would attend. This is both major parties refusing to participate in a community forum on an issue in which many citizen electors are very concerned. In response Darebin Climate Action held a small protest outside the Northcote Town Hall on 31 October with chairs for the four candidates with only two being filled.Afterwards, the group walked down High Street chatting to cafe sitters and passers-by about the Forum and the protest, to Fiona Richardson's electoral office. The Guardian Climate Angels joined us and climbed onto the awning of the MP's electoral office to display a sign: 'Does Labor think coal is good for humanity?'Later, we entered Fiona Richardson's electoral office and gave a statement to one of her staff members. |
