説明 | Rachael Allen is reading at the Palace Green Library as part of the Durham Book Festival. She is one of the 2014 Faber New Poets and as such has been recognised as an emerging new voice in British poetry. Rachael is the online poetry editor for Granta.EARLY HARBOURThe horizon is a line-white flare;boats lead in over the flatas though on a conveyor belt.Fish garble in the filaments of rope,whacking metronomicwith their unblinking dial eyesrapidly dryingto a firm gel. I imagine being cabledin the base of the net,slapping madly for what is inside me,something not yet blinking or rythmicbut locked in, laying low.The firm, acrid hospital seatis the burnt orangeof rough wire. I steer you too early,unnecessary creature.Fish heave, the sea heaves,I mete out the likeness as tidal.Rachael Allen. |
