説明 | Built in 1872 the St. James Hotel was Iowa City's finest hotel. It was a 4-story brick building located at the SE corner of Iowa Avenue and Clinton Street. It had 40 rooms and everything was first class for it's time. In 1914 the hotel became the Iowa Student Union with rooms for students. It burned on Good Friday, 1916.Today it is the location of Iowa Book & Supply building.Historical photograph of Iowa City. For educational use. |
