説明 | Rawaa, 21, a mother of three from Aleppo, draws water from a storage tank in her tent at an informal tented settlement for Syrian refugees in the Bekaa Valley, Lebanon, on Thursday July 24 2014.The well is the camp's only water source and is not clean enough to drink. Some residents told NRC that those who drank from the well regularly suffered skin diseases and other complaints.Rawaa told NRC: "Pulling water up by hand is tough work, especially in Ramadan. These days, by the time I've pulled up a full bucket I'm exhausted. Then i have to take it to my ten t in the middle of the camp. There I have to rest, and feed my baby and then bring back the bucket."Rawaa stores water in a large container in her tent, which she said took 15 trips to fill.NRC is running Community Capacity Building projects in the area to ensure community participation, information sharing and coordination of assistance in the ITSs. The Community Capacity Building project applies a community based management approach which focuses on the involvement of the refugees in the identification of gaps in services, as well as in the planning and implementing the assistance.NRC/Sam Tarling |
