説明 | The three practice dams included Eyebrook Reservoir, near Uppingham, Rutland, Abberton Reservoir near Colchester and Derwent Reservoir. The RAF built canvas towers at Eye Brook to resemble the profile of the German targets. It was also used beyond the raids for further training with the ‘Upkeep’ bomb. I'm not sure why but when the media celebrate the British dams where the dambusters practiced, they only refer to the Ladybower reservoir dam in the Derwent valley.Eyebrook Resevoir was completed in 1940 to supply water to Corby Steel Works - now owned by Tata Steel of India. |
