old Millbrae station 5-13-14 1 / THE Holy Hand Grenade!

| 説明 | The former train station for CalTrain (and the Southern Pacific, before CalTrain was established...) in Millbrae, CA. This modification of the stock SP station plan has had the waiting area (on the right in this instance) both flipped from where it usually was (It was usually next to the waiting room, on the left side of the station here...) and truncated - it would normally be out to where the railroad car is on the extreme right... Taken by a Nikon D610 at ISO 400 with a Nikkor 20mm ƒ 2.8 AF-D lens.This station was replaced by a station about 100 yards further north (off camera left, under that overpass in the background...) in the 2000's, when BART was extended to Millbrae (and the airport), and is now occupied by a museum.The poster had spent many hours in/around this station when he was working at San Francisco Int'l Airport, (1997-9) as there was a free shuttle from here to there (and a nice, wide, free parking lot here!)The second floor apartment would have been the station master's in the 1930's, and before... Unknown (to this scribe...) what occupies it now... |
