説明 | Introduced, warm-season, annual herb 10–40 cm tall, with slender taproot and hairless stems. Basal leaves form a rosette and are obovate in outline, 2–15 cm long, 5–30 mm wide; margins are toothed, sinuate to pinnatifid, lamina usually hairlesss or very sparsely hairy (although these plants at Dungog Common are very hairy), sessile or petiolate; cauline leaves (if present) are similar, few and reducing upwards. Heads are solitary on branched stems, 3–10 mm wide (much smaller than Hypochaeris radicata) and scales are present. Florets are ligulate and yellow. Achenes are of 2 types: inner achenes with a beak about 7 mm long; outer achenes similar, but not beaked. Pappus is 2-seriate; inner plumose, outer scabrous bristles. Flowering is from spring to summer. A native of Europe, Asia and Africa, it is commonly found in lawns, gardens, roadsides, pastures, woodlands and disturbed habitats. |
