| 説明 | This is from St Marks (Florida) Elementary School in the town of the same name. It was a tiny building with only three classrooms and three teachers, one of whom was the principal. Each classroom held two grades, so our second-grade class was in with the first-graders.The teacher, Jewell Hagan, was the epitome of an elementary school teacher, always supportive and cheerful. She made some very nice remarks on my report card and was always trying to help me out with my worst subject, penmanship, which was (and still is) atrocious.After doing first grade in a more street-wise Nashville neighborhood, I was soon struck with how very nice and cheerful these small-town kids were. I remember one of the first days there, when I dropped my pencil, and Ginger (the cute little brunette, second from right, bottom row) picked it up and handed it to me with a smile. None of the Nashville kids would have ever granted such a favor!Although I had some really nice teachers and good friends, overall I didn't care much for elementary school, but this one year in Florida was the exception. |
