説明 | Geysers are hot springs that episodically erupt columns of water. They occur in few places on Earth. The highest concentration of geysers anywhere is at the Yellowstone Hotspot Volcano in northwestern Wyoming, USA.Little Squirt Geyser is a small, infrequently-erupting feature in the southeastern Geyser Hill Group of Yellowstone’s Upper Geyser Basin. It has an approximately four meter diameter, shallow, subcircular basin and a small, off-center vent. This geyser lacks much decorative geyserite. Relatively smooth, flat-floored geyserite is present on the western margin of the feature. Finely nodulose geyserite lines the upper walls of the vent and occurs proximal to the vent on one side. Gravel and geyserite-coated gravel are common in the basin.Logger data show that Little Squirt erupts every 3 to 8 days. It has long-duration eruptions that last ~15 to 18 hours (usually about three-quarters of a day). Eruption columns are relatively narrow and reach one to nearly 3 meters high. Eruption runoff drains eastward, then southward into the nearby Firehole River. |
