Lower leaves are greyish-green, stalked and divided into rough, deep lobes; the lobe at the end is the largest. Upper leaves are sessile, lack lobes and have toothed margins. Flowers mostly winter and spring. A native of the Mediterranean. it is found in disturbed areas; along roadsides, around feed out areas, in depleted pastures, around buildings. Also found in fallows. Seems to prefer more fertile soils or areas with extra nutrients (eg feed out areas). Spread in hay, by animals and machinery. |
