| 説明 | Restoration of the wonderful stained glass in York Minster is an ongoing and I would guess a rather expensive business. But these are magnificent pieces of English heritage and its fit to nurture and keep them safe. This panel is on display within the Minster and illustrates just how clean and clear the process has been, a fine example of medieval art and craft is being preserved by the ever increasingly effective processes of our most modern technology. "John of Patmos" was the last surviving apostle of Jesus Christ and was banished to the island (off modern day Turkey), for preaching the Christian Gospel. While on the island he received the word and wrote the Book of Revelations. John lived to be almost 100 years of age having survived an earlier attempt to boil him alive in olive oil! You can't keep a good Saint down, can you? |
