| 説明 | Rainbow Pool is a moderately large, 21 x 28 meter-sized hot spring in the Black Sand Basin of Yellowstone's Upper Geyser Basin. During the 2000s, it had three major runoff channels draining south and southeast toward Iron Spring Creek. In the early 2010s, one of the three runoff channels dried up. Currently, water drains southeastward from the pool to the creek via two channels. When nearby Sunset Lake has its rare bursting eruptions, Rainbow Pool's runoff decreases. Rainbow Pool itself has rare eruptions. Reported eruptive activity occurred in the 1930s and 1940s, in 1973, and in 1996. Observed eruptions have been 70 to 80 feet high, with water going over and past the former boardwalk. A larger, unseen eruption in 1996 formed a debris field that reached the trees near the rhyolite cliff to the west. Four to six feet high eruptions were seen after that.In 1998, researchers measured a 74° Celsius temperature and a pH of about 7.7. |
