| 説明 | The image is from a postcard purchased at the Writer's Museum in Edinburgh. The author's wife Fanny Osborne is on his right with his mother on his left hand side, the young woman between RLS and his mother is Fanny's daughter Belle. The postcard gives no indication of where or when the original was taken. Robert's marriage was at first much resisted by his parents though they became reconciled and they look happy enough here. At the time of their marriage Robert was at a low ebb financially and in health and looking at him he certainly appears to be the slightest and least robust member of his immediate family, the ill health that plagued his childhood in Edinburgh was never overcome and robbed us all of goodness what riches. |
