Mark Montgomery, commander, Battle Force 7th Fleet, receives a wreath from a Japanese girl to be placed on the headstone of one of five U.S. Sailors and Marines, who died in the service of Commodore Matthew C. Perry after his ship first arrived in Shimoda in 1854, during a ceremony in the Gyokusenji cemetery. Sailors from various commands including the two Arleigh-burke class guided missile destroyers USS John S. McCain (DDG 56) and USS Mustin (DDG 89) visited Shimoda to join the city in celebrating the 75th annual Black Ship Festival.
