説明 | I have cycled the four mile track from Keswick to Threlkeld many a time and always stop to admire this view of the river Greta with Causey Pike and the Coledale Fells in the background. A super bit of biking before the unpleasant necessity of the A66 to Penrith! Both William Wordsworth and Robert Southey (who appropriately named his Keswick house "Greta Hall" wrote about this lovely river, here is the finish of Wordsworth's piece (not much quoted these days but a survivor for all that).TO THE RIVER GRETA NEAR KESWICK"Oft as SpringDecks, on thy sinuous banks, her thousand thrones,Seats of glad instinct and love's carolling,The concert, for the happy, then may vieWith liveliest peals of birthday harmony; To a grieved heart the notes are benisons".William Wordsworth 1770 -1850. |
