| 説明 | ...pulling a steam excursion train. I wasn't prepared for this chance encounter. That's why I had only my tiny and outdated Canon Ixus 80 IS with me. The sky was extremely dull. I tried to get at least a handful of usable images.The steam locomotive itself is from the 1930s. It's a light "pacific" type engine with 4-6-2 wheel arrangement for fast passenger trains. Maximum speed is 130 km/h (81 mph). After WW II a couple of these race horses remained in East Germany. Although this class never made it into the official modernization program of GDR's railroad administration a 52 of these sleak locomotives were equipped with new boilers between 1969 and 1972. I don't know the reason but 03 2155-4 was running with its tender in front when I took this photo. The driving wheels of this elegant locomotive are 2 meters (79 inch) in diameter. |
