説明 | I know that cameras have large capacitors to power their flashes. I know that these capacitors can retain their charge for quite some time. When I opened up Jessica's camera I saw this and said to myself "that's the capacitor for the flash. I better watch out for that, it's probably still 'hot'".It still managed to bite me though.Because the current only travels across a few millimetres of skin, there is no real danger of actual harm, but it can definitely give you an unpleasant surprise, which may ruffle your dignity, or at worst cause you to drop the camera. If you have some means of discharging the capacitor, you should. A reasonably beefy 100 ohm resistor should do the trick (I didn't have any handy). A dead short administered by, say, a screwdriver, is likely to damage your capacitor, and possibly even cause a small, but messy and toxic explosion. |
