| 説明 | Mercedes-Benz W154/39-15 - Goodwood Revival 2012The 1939 Mercedes W154/39 Grand Prix car was the pinnacle of GP car development by Mercedes prior to WW2. Two of these twin supercharger 3 litre V12 racing cars took part in the last GP of the pre-WW2 era (Yugoslav GP in Belgrade in September 1939) and this car, Chassis no 15, was driven by Manfred Von Brauchitsch to 2nd place. During the war, they were initially stored in Germany and then moved to Austria to avoid heavy allied bombing. The advancing Russians found them in Austria and had them shipped to Rumania where they (just) survived the ravages of the Communist era. Eventually repatriated, this car is now in the care of the Collier Collection in the USA. |
