説明 | In the attic my dad found an old roll of exposed 35mm film labeled GAF 125 ASA black and white, with a letter dated January 1936 from a Kodak development lab saying it was being returned un-developed because it was a type the Kodak lab didn't handle. So the film was exposed in 1936, but had not yet been developed.I pre-soaked it in 68-degree distilled water for 5 minutes to ease the old emulsion into the idea of being wet. Then I developed with XTOL 1:1 for 8 minutes at 68F, then a water stop (5 changes of water), then Kodak hardening fixer (instead of my usual TF-4 fixer). The entire strip came out very dark, but there were images on it!I coaxed out the images by adjusting levels and curves in Picasa. It is a trip to Yellowstone, shot by my great uncle Vic in 1936. After waiting 77 years it is remarkable there were any images at all on this film. |
