| 説明 | Introduced, cool-season, annual herb to 50 cm tall. Leaves form a rosette at the plant base and are usually deeply lobed, sparsely hairy and up to 10 cm long; the few upper leaves are stem clasping. Flowerheads are racemes with white flowers that are 2-3 mm long and have 4 petals. Fruits are flattened, triangular, notched at the apex and around 5 mm long. Flowering is in winter and spring. A native of Europe, it is a weed of disturbed areas, including pastures. It can be abundant given good winter rain. Regarded as a weed, especially in lucerne stands. Herbicides are registered for its control. Contributes very little to livestock grazing. Reputed to taint milk and discolour egg yolks. If it is consumed in large quantities, it can cause digestive obstructions in horses. Can be suppressed by fostering strong, competitivepastures. |
