| 説明 | Gary, Lois, TomThe Interfaith Council for Peace and Justice task force, Voices for the Prevention of Gun Violence, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan had a community gathering this Saturday, on the 1 year anniversary of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary. In spite of cold and snowy conditions, community people came together for a moment of reflection and resolution for change. There was singing (led by Lois Miller & co.!) and good words from community members (including our Mayor, John Hieftje, who shared a newspaper clipping about being able to buy, today, for Christmas, a Bushmaster .223 semi-automatic rifle with four magazines of bullets at a special price. He held the ad in his hand while addressing the audience. He also mentioned that you are 7 times more likely to die of gun violence in the US than Canada, which is 1 hour of car travel away from us.Another speaker brought up the old saw, "guns don't kill people…" and mentioned that people are the ones who pull the trigger.Here's the same Bushmaster gun, available before Christmas, that was used in the Sandy Hook, Newtown, Conn shooting.
