Formerly known as "Enver Hoxha Museum." This pyramid-shaped structure was designed by the daughter and son-in-law of the late communist leader Enver Hoxha. It served as a museum about his legacy, but after 1991 became a conference center and party venue. Some sources have referred to it as the "Enver Hoxha Mausoleum" although this was not an official appellation. During the 1999 Kosovo War, the museum was used as a base by NATO and humanitarian organizations. “The Pyramid”, former mausoleum of Stalinist ex-dictator Enver Hoxha, was built in 1988 to commemorate Hoxha’s 80th birthday, three years after his death.The 17,000 meters square complex will be destroyed so that the new Albanian parliament may be built on its place. |
