| 説明 | This is a photo of the US Signal Service Model 1892 "Kibourne" Heliograph Shutter. This dual-flap, ring operated unit replaced the original (1888) Signal Service single flap (horizontal axis) "S-lever" unit. It was in turn replaced in 1905 by the six-bladed Gibbs shutter. In 1892, perhaps partly due to issues exposed in the May 1890 practice, the single flap shutter of 1888 was replaced by the model 1892 shutter (or "screen") developed by Captain C.E.
