説明 | The Bayon's most distinctive feature is the multitude of serene and smiling stone faces on the many towers which jut out from the upper terrace and cluster around its central peak. Entering the Bayon temple, you have to climb up a set of steep wooden stairs to get to the terrace where you can see these large stone faces. You can see one of them staring down at you now. there is only one set of stairs and it can get crowded up there, especially if a large group of tourists have descended upon the ruins. So in this picture, I am waiting for the group of Korean tourists to descend so that I can use the same stairs to go up. This group was taking it's own sweet time, with people taking pictures of each other with that face in the background. Well, patience is a virtue! The Bayon is one of scores of Angkor era temples dotting the countryside around Siem Reap, Cambodia. Detailed notes about the Bayon temple appeared earlier in this album (see previous pictures) and will also appear later as we go along in this album. (see subsequent pictures).
